There’s a colony of bats that hangs out at the Embassy during dry season. They’re large, migratory fruit bats, with a wingspan of well over 12 inches, probably closer to two feet. When the swarm…or flock…or whatever it is that bats do when they all fly simultaneously, it’s rather impressive.
Usually, they’re gone before rainy season really begins. Rainy season has started a little late this year, so they were still around today when we had a massive downpour at noon. They didn’t mind the rain so much, but the lightning strikes that were nearby sent all of them flying.
We think they’ll be packing their bags and completely gone in the next day or two.
