Yesterday, the World Health Organization (again) declared Liberia to be Ebola-free. We are now in a 90-day period of “heightened surveillance” to monitor for any new cases.
Given recent experience, this is an entirely arbitrary surveillance period, and doesn’t really mean anything is different in what we do from day to day. Well, the Ebola buckets for handwashing might go back to soap and water rather than bleach, but otherwise, not much changes.
Congratulations to Liberia!
